  1. Today was a very eventful day! We started our morning at 630 with a wake-up knock from miss Gratz. I started mine a bit later; My roommate, Sarah, let me sleep in. We then had breakfast and got on the BIOS bus to head to our first location.
Our tour guide for the morning was Dreddy: A tall skinny, but muscular man who does not wear shoes, EVER. As we walked, he was very helpful. He pointed out indigenous species, endemic species(species only found in bermuda), and invasive species of flora and fauna. All of the plants and animals he pointed out have played a significant roll in the history of Bermuda. A great example would be the Mexican Pepper tree, which is also known as the Brazilian Pepper or the Christmas Holly(because of the time it blooms.) This tree is invasive species which has taken over most of bermudas wild life but suffocating the roots of any thing else that tries to grow near it. We spent part of today clearing tees and another invasive plant called Mamosa out of the foliage at Coopers island. We then planted some indigenous species. The end product was a better world and some very dirty kids!
We also explored above sea level and underwater caves on our walk. Each of them had a unique story that Dreddy told flawlessly. What i learned about myself today is that i do not like to swim in water that i can not see the bottom in! At all! I tried though when we got to the final cave and the only one we swam in. Everyone else however, had an amazing time exploring the beautiful rock formations and crevices. I think someone even found a spiny lobster.
We then took the bus over to Cooper's island, where as i mentioned earlier we planned trees. When that was all over, we got a chance to snorkel for the first time today! While looking around some of the fish we saw were: Bermuda Bream, Parrotfish, Pudding Wife, and a Lionfish! I think Lionfish are the most beautiful fish i have ever seen, but as i was reminded several times- KEEP YOUR DISTANCE! THEY ARE DANGEROUS!
I almost forgot! before all of this, our first stop was cliff jumping into this cute little lagoon! Everyone got the opportunity and everyone jumped off of either the high or low cliff at least once. We took a group picture of everyone in the water so everyone back home will get the chance to see just how beautiful the lagoon is!
